This is where the adventure started in july 2015. A small cabin of just 15m2, close to the water, the Vondelpark and with a lovely terrace. In the summer it’s really nice to enjoy a bite at the beautiful terrace, in the winter we focus on delivery and take away since we don’t have any tables inside. Our covered terrace is open from march till October. Be aware that we are not allowed to serve alcohol here and don’t take reservations.
Rivierenbuurt / Zuidas
Finally a place to eat proper barbecue whole year long. In the summer there’s plenty of space on the large terrace. In the winter you’re more than welcome in our indoor backyard restaurant.
Eat together, serve yourself. This means you order at the bar and pick up the food when it comes off the grill. It also means we don’t take reservations.
From this venue we also deliver most of the dishes to your home.
How it all started
A long time ago in Southern Africa, early people accidently dropped raw meat into a fire and found out this meat was easier to chew. Experts say this is the early beginning of the Braai we know today.
Many years later the Braai has conquered a central place in the village where the food was prepared on an open fire by one person. Instead of cooking in their own house or hut, people gathered around the fire, chatting, telling stories.
Nowadays, a Braai is known as a social meeting where food is prepared on open fire. Friends and invites are more than welcome and most people bring something to eat. But the main principles from ancient times are still the same; gathering around the fire, chatting and telling stories. Once you’ve experienced a real Braai, you will never forget.
What Braai means to us
These are the principles and values we want to express in our venues. Spending time with friends and family, enjoy good food, cold drinks and local goods.
We don’t have a typical South African kitchen; we use braai, barbecue and grilling techniques from all over the world in our dishes.
We live by the saying; eat together, serve yourself. This means we don’t do table service. What?! Yes, you order at the bar and pick up the food when it’s comes just of the barbecue. Simple, easy and affordable. Let Braai be your backyard and find out for yourself.

Let us do the work, so you can enjoy your party. Prices from € 15,95 per person.
In the past few years, we have connected with many local suppliers. We like to support local entrepeneurship and found many small companies that are specialised in a specific product or branche.
Where possible, we use biodegradable disposables, our deliveries are all done by bike and our venues use green power.
Most of the meat comes from a selection of farms in The Netherlands and Germany. All the meat is labeled with at least 1 star “beter leven” or what is called in Germany the “Tierwohl” label. We like to focus on the quality of the meat and not the quantity, we ask you to do the same. The dry rub or marinade we use is made of pure spices, so no additives are used.
Our charcoal is a 100% sustainable product from FSC- certified wood. No chemicals are used in the process, unlike many other suppliers. Better for the environment, better for your health.
